Do Something Positive for YOURSELF!
"Hanging out with a Feathered Friend" |
Hey Kids! I want to push POSITIVITY today!
So maybe today, just do something for yourself. Treat yourself. Or do something to make yourself feel better! It could be looking up a favorite topic on Wikipedia and learning about it. Or maybe making a favorite dish that you love cooking. Looking through old photographs, playing a favorite CD. There are tons of stuff you can do to make this raining day better!
Just do what will make you feel better and more positive about life! It doesn't have to cost anything.
Why why why do you ask? I think we all need a bit of pampering know and then. Life is tough enough, so each day maybe take some time out for yourself to pump yourself up, increase your knowledge, make you feel better about YOU!
Here are a couple of other things I have done to make myself feel better about myself (and yes, some do cost money but others do not)!
I made brownies just for the hell of it just because I love the smell of them!
I snuggled with the cats.
Take a nap.
Be goofy! It keeps me young. :)
Hang out with a friend and make each other laugh.
TACOS (They always make me smile. LOL)
Cleared off the piano and played it again with a smile. Sure, I was kinda off, but it's like riding a bike. I'll be back playing well in no time (I took classical lessons for 10 years).
I purged clothes that I no longer wear ... without apology!
And the second step, give them to charity so someone else can possible enjoy them.
Do something for someone else to make their day, whether it be charity for a stranger or a phone call to a dear old friend.
I pulled out all of my 80s CD's reliving high school; also did the same with my 90s CD's reliving my club days!
I love watching fun old movies on rainy days.
I worked out, sweated and felt good to be alive.
I watered my two philodendron plants which were my Mom's. These hardy plants have been alive since the 80s!
Get your Alexa or Youtube to play your favorite song and sing out loud, badly and probably off key.
I broke a dish but instead of getting upset, I said FUCK IT! and laughed. Because honestly, it's just a stupid broken dish.
I shut off my phone and read for an hour. Or just shut off the phone and disconnect for a bit from the outside world.
Get a haircut, one of the simplest ways to make yourself feel better.
Made myself hot chocolate and loaded it with a TON of marshmallows.
Make a recipe from your childhood.
Give yourself a facial and begin the day fresh faced!
Wear cologne/perfume around the house just because you like that smell.
Yeah, that old one: dance like no one is watching ... but us old-heads have to watch it. We are prone to pulling our backs out.
Go through photos and keep the best ones you love and toss those old ones you hate. WHY are you keeping those ones you hate? Shred 'em and keep the ones that you love!
Eat that chocolate bar without apology because it just tastes so damn good.
Or a piece of cheese if you're a savory guy or gal like ME!
Drop someone on social media you have been wanting to do forever. You see them and think to yourselves, why the hell and I still friends with that person???? Better yet, purge a bunch! (BUT NOT ME ... LOLOLOL).
Remember that the bad days make you remember how blessed you are for the good ones!
Realize that we have one life to live and this is no dress rehearsal.
I hope this brightens your day. I know just writing about it makes me feel better already.
Great advice grasshopper! Thanks for giving us permission to do any or many of these.
